Beth and Craig Hullinger
Lakewood Ranch
Beth was originally from St Petersburg and had lived in Sarasota. We met in Chicago in 1978 and began dating in 1983. We would visit Beth’s mother in St Petersburg and always enjoyed our trips to Sarasota.
We retired from Illinois in 2009 and moved to Sarasota - one mile west of Lakewood Ranch and I-75. We discovered the delightful Main Street - Mike and Patt Staley invited us to join a group of Members of the Military Officers Association of America - Sarasota Chapter who met for a weekly happy hour at MacAllisters pub. We fell in love with the community and moved into Waterfront at Main Street, one block north of Main Street on the Lake. We could this easily walk to the ten restaurants, Starbucks, and the Cinema.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our new lifestyle in the community. Beth and I both have backgrounds in city planning and find that this community is very well planned and developed.
We were surprised at how little online history of the community existing. We are attempting to rectify that with stories written by residents and those who had a part in improving the community.
